Drunken writings by yours truly!

So, welcome to my blog page. Hope you like reading... :)

Very simply, I read and write when I'm sipping my IPA and I will offer you my thoughts and impressions on the places I visit and the products and services you can expect there. So, my reviews on beers, beer bars and what's happening in these places. Plus maybe a few random thoughts.

Secondly, I've added my weekend podcast commentary in blog form. theTokyoBill Weekly is a weekend-release, where I narrate a story on a current event or other topic I happen to think is interesting...a subject involving Japan, that is. I'll include a link to the podcast host Podbean, should you be more interested in listening to the podcast, including links to your other favorite podcast players. Kampai!

Reviews, Recommendations, and Ramblings

Kise Beer, Shimotakaido

A local hidden bar along the Shimo-Takaido shopping street, a casual craft beer stop with some quality beers. Somewhat spartan but modern in equipment and payment systems...efficient, friendly, and modern.

theTokyoBill Weekly podcast

Stories from Japan. Told from Japan.

Stories on Japan that I hope bring a fresh perspective to recent conversations...or, whatever's on my mind!

And, if you'd rather listen to my velvety smooth voice (yeah, right!), follow the link to my podcast host Podbean, or via several other podcast hosts, including Apple Podcasts, TuneIn Radio, and many others. I've included YouTube links in the entries below, FYI!  :)

Thirty-Seven Days

Thirty-seven days of rain, a rice market swinging between shortage and glut, and fish that have simply stopped showing up. Japan is living through climate change in real time — and the bill is starting to arrive. A story about what happens to an island nation when the weather it built its economy and culture around starts behaving differently.
